Educating a Technical Workforce for Rhode Island
1. All eighth grade students must take the Stanford Diagnostic Test given at Davies on Saturdays during January. Any student requiring special accommodations must contact the school 1-week prior to the test date to allow for preparations for the accommodations.
2. A completed application must be forwarded to Davies no later than March 15th.
3. For acceptance into the first stage of the process, students must score a minimum grade 6 level on the reading comprehension test and a grade 5 level on the Math test.
4. Students who received Special Education services and do not achieve the minimum score will have their special educational testing reviewed by an admissions team to determine qualification for admission. This testing must be administered within a year of the student's application.
5. Students who receive ESL services and do not achieve the minimum score, will have their access testing reviewed by an admissions team to determine qualification for admission. This test must have been administered within a year of the student's application.
6. Each community in the Davies region will be allocated a quota of students for entrance into the 9th grade. Those students deemed eligible will be placed in the pool. If there are more students in the pool than the quota for each community, a lottery will be held and the quota will be filled. If a community does not fill its quota then students on the waiting list from other communities will be selected.
