Graphic Arts/Printing is one of the fastest growing, technologically
advanced fields in the communications industry today. Davies
Graphics Arts/Printing program provides students with the
skills necessary to gain entry level positions in a variety
of commercial printing areas, and/or post-secondary education.
Davies was the first high school in Rhode Island to receive
national accreditation from PrintED of America.
Students explore the multiple paths that comprise the industry
to enable them to select the best career path. Design and
layout, electronic imaging, image assembly, and offset press
operations for the production of single and multi-color work
are included in the program.
Both a Macintosh G-3 Lab and a fully equipped print shop are
provided. Students learn to use equipment including: darkrooms,
A B Dick and Heidelberg QM presses, screen-printing units,
platemaker, color scanner, cutting, drilling, and folding
equipment. Students provide many print services for the school.
In a unique partnership with IKON Office Solutions, students
