Hospitality is one of the top growing industries not only in Rhode Island, but nationwide. At Davies, we're proud to offer an industry-based program, accredited by the American Culinary Federation Education Foundation (ACFEF), with a curriculum developed by the Education Foundation of the National Restaurant and the Lodging Association. Through our program, students develop skills in:
- Food preparation
- Safety and sanitation
- Commercial tools and equipment
- Customer relations and management skills
- Work ethics
Davies fully equipped training kitchen and bakery allow students to apply the theory they learn to actual food preparation. Davies students also prepare and serve food for many events at the school, including weekly specials in our Patriot Dining Room.
Davies' Hospitality Careers program also features the ProStart curriculum. This two-year program prepares students for entry-level employment and/or post-secondary education in the food service and hospitality industry. Annually, Davies instructors will select students to compete in the state-level ProStart competition, for the chance to win scholarship money and compete at the national level. Since 2012, Davies has sent four teams to national competition.
