    This playbook is a reference guide published by the RI Department of Health which includes all COVID-19 protocols for K-12 Schools

    ** MASKS WILL BE WORN AT ALL TIMES IN THE SCHOOL NURSE OFFICE**

    Symptoms of Covid

    • Fever or chills;

    • Cough (new)

    • Shortness of breath or
      difficulty breathing

    • Fatigue

    • Muscle or body aches

    • Headache

    • Sore throat

    • New loss of taste or smell

    • Congestion or runny nose (new)

    • Nausea or vomiting; or Diarrhea 

    If students or staff are not feeling well, exhibiting symptoms, common cold, flu or COVID-19 the recommendation is to stay home  

    If a student or staff member becomes ill while at school, they will be asked to wear a mask and either be sent home or asked to be tested for COVID-19.

    Tested Individuals:  

    • If the test result is positive see below guidance for testing positive 

    • If the test result is negative, mask while symptoms persist and recommend testing in 24 hours

    Everyone who tests positive for COVID-19 should isolate and follow recommendations for return to school.

    People should isolate themselves at home for 5 full days after the date of their first positive test (asymptomatic) or when symptoms first appeared (symptomatic).

    They may leave isolation after 5 full days* if they

    • Are fever-free for at least 24 hours without use of fever-reducing
      medicine and COVID-19 symptoms have improved or are improving;

    • Wear a high-quality mask around others days 6 - 10

    • Avoid being around people who are immunocompromised or at high risk for severe disease.

    What if a student or staff is exposed to COVID-19?  

    All students and staff, regardless of vaccination status or previous infection, who were exposed to COVID-19 should:

    • Monitor COVID-19 symptoms for 10 days;

    • Wear a well-fitting mask for 10 days; and

    • Get tested after 5 full days.

    Síntomas de Covid

    • Fiebre o escalofríos

    • Tos (nueva)

    • Dificultad para respirar o

    • dificultad para respirar

    • Fatiga

    • Dolores musculares o corporales

    • Dolor de cabeza

    • Dolor de garganta

    • Nueva pérdida del gusto u olfato

    • Congestión o secreción nasal (nuevo)

    • Náuseas o vómitos, o Diarrea

    Si los estudiantes o el personal no se sienten bien, presentan síntomas, resfriado común, gripe o COVID-19, la recomendación es quedarse en casa.

    Si un estudiante o miembro del personal se enferma mientras está en la escuela, se le pedirá que use una mascarilla y se enviará a casa o se le pedirá que se haga la prueba de COVID-19.

    Individuos probados:

    • Si el resultado de la prueba es positivo, consulte a continuación la guía por dar positivo

    • Si el resultado de la prueba es negativo, tendrá que enmascararse mientras los síntomas persisten y es recomendable realizar la prueba en 24 horas.

    Todas las personas que den positivo para COVID-19 deben aislarse y seguir las recomendaciones para regresar a la escuela.

    Las personas deben aislarse en casa durante 5 días completos después de la fecha de su primer resultado positivo (asintomático) o cuando los síntomas aparecieron por primera vez (sintomático).

    Pueden salir del aislamiento después de 5 días completos* 

    • si no tienen fiebre durante al menos 24 horas sin usar medicamentos para reducir la fiebre

    • y los síntomas de COVID-19 han mejorado o están mejorando;

    • Use una mascarilla de alta calidad alrededor de los demás días 6 a 10

    • Evite estar cerca de personas inmunocomprometidas o en alto riesgo de enfermedad grave.

    ¿Qué pasa si un estudiante o personal está expuesto a COVID-19?

    Todos los estudiantes y el personal, independientemente del estado de vacunación o la infección previa, que estuvieron expuestos a COVID-19 deben:

    • Monitorear los síntomas de COVID-19 durante 10 días;

    • Usar una mascarilla bien ajustada durante 10 días; y

    • hacerse la prueba después de 5 días completos.
