SurveyWorks - Annual Parent/Family Survey
The Rhode Island Department of Education is currently administering its annual SurveyWorks Family Survey, which is an opportunity for family members to provide feedback about our school community and our children’s opportunities to learn. The survey results are most useful when all families participate, so I am writing to ask you to participate in this survey.

Parent/Teacher Conferences
Meet with your student’s teachers on Thursday, March 2nd from 12:10-2:10 pm. Sign up to meet with teachers outside their classrooms, time slots are 5 minutes. If you feel you need more time, you may schedule an appointment with the teacher by contacting the guidance department at 401-728-1500, ext. 425. Make sure that you know your student’s schedule, or have your student provide you with a copy. Refreshments will be available.

Blood Drive - March 3 - Register in Advance

Juniors and Parents, You’re invited to… RISING SENIOR NIGHT! Thursday, March 16, 2023 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Davies Career and Technical High School Refreshments courtesy of Davies Hospitality. Presentations designed to make your transition to senior year smooth! You’ll receive information on: Work-based learning and how we work to match students with employers in their senior year. The college search and financial aid process. The cost of senior year activities. National Honor Society Nominations
Congratulations to the 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students that received a letter from the National Honor Society for the academic year 2022-2023. These students met the initial criteria of a 3.75 cumulative GPA after quarter 1. The informational meeting will be on December 20th, 2022 at 2:30 pm in the Lecture Hall.

Menstrual Products Available
We are excited to announce that Davie’s has partnered with Red.Lined Period,a local organization that fights menstrual product insecurity, to offer free menstrual supplies to the school community. Red.Lined Period was founded because menstruation doesn’t change based on where you live, your capabilities, or if you can afford supplies and understands that sometimes you’re just not prepared. The products in these Red.Kits are donated, assembled and distributed throughout central Rhode Island.

School Year Welcome Letters
As you begin your high school career, please use this first semester to lay a strong foundation for success. I urge you to establish strong routines in terms of attendance, study skills, and time management, and to get involved in at least one extracurricular activity. Please know that we have excellent teachers at Davies-- if you show up to school daily, make every effort to complete the activities that your teachers assign in a timely manner, and try your best on each one, you will find success!

Congratulations to Mrs. Cipolla for winning Davies' District Teacher of the Year for School Year 2022-2023. Mrs. Cipolla will go on to represent Davies at the state level.

Mrs. Cassarino is Appointed and Installed on the Sandra Bornstein Holocaust Education Center Board and Wins The Silverstein Award Grant
At a ceremony on June 7, 2022, at the Sandra Bornstein Holocaust Education Center (SBHEC) of Rhode Island, Davies’ Social Studies department head, Kristin Cassarino, was appointed and installed as the newest member of the SBHEC Board of Directors. The mission of the Sandra Bornstein Holocaust Education Center is to teach the history of the Holocaust in order to promote human dignity and justice and to serve as a memorial to its victims. SBHEC serves to bear witness to the Holocaust and to honor those who perished. They strive to reduce prejudice against all minorities by teaching about the experience of the Jews, and of the suffering of other people because of hate and bigotry. They seek to ensure that every human being in our world has the same measure of dignity.

The National Honor Society was formed in 1921. Over one million students are estimated to participate in the National Honor Society. Since 1946, the National Honor Society has given out more than $15 million in scholarship awards.

Davies goes to the State House - General Assembly supports Davies and commemorates 50 years of Career and Technical Education
On May 24, 2022 representatives from Davies attended the House of Representative and Senate meetings. Resolutions supporting William M. Davies, Jr. Career and Technical High School and commemorating 50 years of Career and Technical Education in Rhode Island were presented and approved.

Memo from Director Watkins
Please find attached an update from the Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH) regarding COVID-19 isolation protocols for schools and day-care settings. Per this guidance, students returning to school after a 5-day isolation must wear a well-fitting mask for days 6 - 10. Students who cannot wear a mask will be required to stay home for the remainder of the isolation period. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Nurse Carlton at schoolnurse@daviestech.org.
