RIDE Announces Delegates for 2023 National Youth Science Camp
“We are thrilled to have these extremely talented students representing Rhode Island on a national stage,” said Commissioner Angélica Infante-Green. “These young women are destined to be future leaders in STEAM, and we cannot wait to hear of their success in this competitive science program. They are shining examples of what our kids can achieve with the right support and guidance.” The students, Taina Marigny of Providence and Mia Schenenga of East Greenwich, are both seniors graduating from their high schools this June.

National Honor Society Nominations
Congratulations to the 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students that received a letter from the National Honor Society for the academic year 2022-2023. These students met the initial criteria of a 3.75 cumulative GPA after quarter 1. The informational meeting will be on December 20th, 2022 at 2:30 pm in the Lecture Hall.

Menstrual Products Available
We are excited to announce that Davie’s has partnered with Red.Lined Period,a local organization that fights menstrual product insecurity, to offer free menstrual supplies to the school community. Red.Lined Period was founded because menstruation doesn’t change based on where you live, your capabilities, or if you can afford supplies and understands that sometimes you’re just not prepared. The products in these Red.Kits are donated, assembled and distributed throughout central Rhode Island.

School Year Welcome Letters
As you begin your high school career, please use this first semester to lay a strong foundation for success. I urge you to establish strong routines in terms of attendance, study skills, and time management, and to get involved in at least one extracurricular activity. Please know that we have excellent teachers at Davies-- if you show up to school daily, make every effort to complete the activities that your teachers assign in a timely manner, and try your best on each one, you will find success!

Mrs. Cassarino is Appointed and Installed on the Sandra Bornstein Holocaust Education Center Board and Wins The Silverstein Award Grant
At a ceremony on June 7, 2022, at the Sandra Bornstein Holocaust Education Center (SBHEC) of Rhode Island, Davies’ Social Studies department head, Kristin Cassarino, was appointed and installed as the newest member of the SBHEC Board of Directors. The mission of the Sandra Bornstein Holocaust Education Center is to teach the history of the Holocaust in order to promote human dignity and justice and to serve as a memorial to its victims. SBHEC serves to bear witness to the Holocaust and to honor those who perished. They strive to reduce prejudice against all minorities by teaching about the experience of the Jews, and of the suffering of other people because of hate and bigotry. They seek to ensure that every human being in our world has the same measure of dignity.

The National Honor Society was formed in 1921. Over one million students are estimated to participate in the National Honor Society. Since 1946, the National Honor Society has given out more than $15 million in scholarship awards.
