• “It Takes a Village to do Distance Learning: Strategies to Cope with our New Normal”

COVID19 has brought our nation to a standstill in all areas of life.  One area that has taken a significant hit has been the education of millions of children and the scrabbling of teachers and administrators to meet the challenges of educating our children.  We can no longer look at instruction as we did before. Our New Normal, has involuntarily put parents/guardians in the role of teachers and teachers racing to recreate the delivery of academic instruction.  This workshop will discuss strategies and tips to help parents cope with this challenge and allow parents/guardians to exchange ideas on what is working and what is not because now more than ever you are not alone.

• “Coping with Loss During COVID19”

COVID19 has changed the way we look at grief and loss.  Our nation is grieving the loss of our daily routine, the way we say goodbye to our loved one, and it has brought to the surface feelings of depression that we really could not identify.  It’s made us face the grieving process head on with feelings of anger, depression, denial, bargaining, and finally acceptance.  Let’s talk about how we as adults are dealing with all of these unpredictable feelings and how we manage talking to our children about loss and uncertainty.  

 

• “Social Media: The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly”

 According to recent research (Commonsense Media), the average teen (ages 13-18) spends about nine hours on social media a day and tweens (ages 8-12) about six hours a day.  Multitasking has become a common theme in our lives.  It’s a wonder how we manage it all. We depend on our smartphones for work, school, our personal and social lives.  When was the last time you left home without your phone and kept on going? The internet has become a significant part of our daily lives.  Social media has its positives (the good), its cautionary tales (the bad), and the dangers (the ugly) that lurk and impact the lives of teens.

• Discuss strategies for managing online information and keeping it secure from online risk, tips for protecting your privacy
• Discuss self- image and identity and the role it plays on adolescents
• Explore digital life versus offline identity, your digital footprint
• Relationships and communication
• Cyberbullying, its types, and effects
• What do we do about it

 

• “Bullying: Verbal, Physical, Relational, Cyberbullying: What it looks like, who to report it to and what to do about it”

Bullying is defined as mean, hurtful behavior that occurs repeatedly in a relationship with an imbalance of power or strength.  It takes several forms.  Bullying is no longer perceived to be that playground bully we see on tv.  Today’s form of bullying is more up close and personal.  It can happen anywhere, not just the playground.  Today we will define and explore the following types of bullying

• Verbal
• Physical
• Relational
• Cyberbullying
• Identify what it looks like
• Who to report it to and what to do about it

 

• "Se necesita un pueblo para hacer Aprendizaje a Distancia: Estrategias para hacerle frente a Nuestra Nueva Normalidad"

COVID19 ha paralizado a nuestra nación en todas las áreas de la vida. Un área que ha tenido un impacto significativo ha sido la educación de millones de niños y el esfuerzo de los maestros y administradores para enfrentar los desafíos de educar a nuestros niños. Ya no podemos mirar la instrucción como lo hacíamos antes. Nuestra Nueva Normalidad, involuntariamente ha puesto a los padres/tutores en el papel de maestros y maestros corriendo para recrear la entrega de instrucción académica. Este taller discutirá estrategias y consejos para ayudar a los padres a enfrentar este desafío y les permitirá a los padres/tutores poder intercambiar ideas sobre lo que funciona y lo que no, porque ahora más que nunca no está solo. • "Enfrentándose con la Pérdida Durante COVID19”

 

 COVID19 ha cambiado la forma en que vemos el dolor y la pérdida. Nuestra nación está sufriendo la pérdida de nuestra rutina diaria, la forma en que decimos adiós a nuestro ser querido, y ha traído a la superficie sentimientos de depresión que realmente no podríamos identificar. Nos ha hecho enfrentar el proceso de duelo de frente con sentimientos de ira, depresión, negación, negociación y finalmente aceptación. Hablemos de cómo los adultos lidiamos con todos estos sentimientos impredecibles y cómo manejamos hablar con nuestros hijos sobre la pérdida y la incertidumbre.

 

• “Medios sociales: lo bueno, lo malo y lo feo”

 Según una investigación reciente (Common sense Media), el adolescente (de 13 a 18 años de edad) pasa unas nueve horas en las redes sociales al día y los adolescentes de 8 a 12 años de edad aproximadamente seis horas al día. La multitarea se ha convertido en un tema común en nuestras vidas. Es una maravilla cómo lo manejamos todo. Dependemos de nuestros Iphones para el trabajo, la escuela, nuestra vida personal y social. ¿Cuándo fue la última vez que dejó su hogar sin su teléfono y siguió adelante? Internet se ha convertido en una parte importante de nuestra vida cotidiana. Las redes sociales tienen sus aspectos positivos (lo bueno), sus cuentas de advertencia (lo malo) y los peligros (lo feo) que acechan e impactan las vidas de los adolescentes.

• Analice las estrategias para administrar la información en línea y mantenerla a salvo de los riesgos en línea, consejos para proteger su privacidad
• Discutir la autoimagen y la identidad y el papel que desempeña en los adolescentes
• Explora la vida digital frente a la identidad sin conexión, tu huella digital

• “Acoso: Verbal, Físico, Relacional, Cibernético: Cómo es, a quien relatarlo y que hacer sobre esto”

El acoso se define como un comportamiento malo e hiriente que ocurre repetidamente en una relación con un desequilibrio de poder o fuerza. Toma varias formas. El acoso ya no se percibe como el matón en el patio de juegos que vemos en la televisión. La forma de acoso de hoy es más cercana y personal. Puede ocurrir en cualquier lugar, no solo en el patio de recreo. Hoy vamos a definir y explorar los siguientes tipos de acoso escolar.

• Físico
• Relacional
• Acoso cibernético
• Identifica como se ve
• A quién se lo puede informar y qué hacer al respecto
