Davies' Junior, Jaiden Bettencourt, receives the 2020 NCWIT Rhode Island Aspirations in Computing award

Jaiden Bettencourt The National Center for Women & Information Technology (NCWIT) has named Davies' Class of 2021 Pre-Engineering Technology student, Jaiden Bettencourt, the 2020 NCWIT Rhode Island Aspirations in Computing award winner. states "The Award for AiC honors 9th-12th grade students who self-identify as women, genderqueer, or non-binary for their computing-related achievements and interests, and encourages them to pursue their passions. Award recipients are selected based on their aptitude and aspirations in technology and computing, as demonstrated by their computing experience, computing-related activities, leadership experience, tenacity in the face of barriers to access, and plans for post-secondary education. Since 2007, nearly 14,000 students have received an Award for AiC."

Bettencourt is a bright and intelligent Junior student in Davies' Pre-Enginnering Technology program. She is an active member of the Women in Technology (WIT) club working with 8th graders as a mentor when Davies hosted Microsoft's DigiGirlz. She has traveled with her WIT club to attend competitions like Technovation. Outside of Davies she has been studying CSE to help prepare herself for college classes and her career after.

Davies is proud of Jai for her accomplishment in achieving this award and looks forward to watching her progress in her final year at Davies.
