Providers have enhanced the course description(s) to show connections of the course(s) to college and career pathways. Examples of this include how the course prepares students for certain jobs, careers, certification and/or degree program. Listing related salary and job outlook data is also helpful in pathway conversations.
Courses are aligned with one of six pathway areas that have been identified by the state for areas of pathway endorsements, a component of the state’s diploma system. As you know, beginning with the Class of 2021, courses aligned to Arts; Business and Industry; Humanities and World Languages; Public Service; STEM; and, Teaching; may be recognized by the Commissioner at graduation for completion of a pathway, in concert with students completing a handful of other requirements. This information is included to support schools in considering ways students may complete pathway programs but does not guarantee to students that completion of the course leads to an endorsement. More information about the Diploma System can be found on the RIDE website.
