Meet Lissalin Guzman Our Davies SkillsUSA Chapter Secretary

Her role: In her role as secretary, Lissalin takes notes of the details, topics, and meeting minutes for the Davies SkillsUSA chapter meetings.  This requires her to be very organized, an active listener, and a strong ability to focus.  

Her SkillsUSA Experience: She has been the SkillsUSA Davies Chapter Secretary for two years and currently in her second year of competing in SkillsUSA.

What’s your favorite part about being a part of SkillsUSA and why?
Lissalin: My favorite thing about SkillsUSA is the experience I’ve gained from it. At first, it intimidated me. I was afraid of making mistakes, being judged, and not living up to the hard work it required. However, once I got involved, my perspective completely changed. I met incredible people, build meaningful relationships, and gained valuable experiences as we supported each other and pushed past our limits. Through SkillsUSA, I learned time management, responsibility, teamwork, networking, and how to perform under pressure. This journey has been meaningful not only because of the friendships I’ve made, but because I faced something that once scared me. I’m proud of my growth and excited to continue developing as a leader.
