Davies Physical Education Welcomes Back Operation Clean Competition
Davies Physical Education classes recently hosted Operation Clean Competition for the second time, partnering with the Rhode Island Interscholastic League (RIIL) and the Taylor Hooton Foundation to educate students on the critical importance of competing clean and protecting their long-term health.
The presentation given by Donald Hooten sheds light on the serious, often overlooked dangers of Appearance and Performance Enhancing Substances (APES), anabolic steroids, and Human Growth Hormone (HGH), as well as poorly regulated pre-workouts, energy drinks, and dietary supplements. Speakers also addressed how social pressures, body image, and self-esteem can drive young people toward these risks.
Championing an “ALL ME®” mindset, the program encouraged a "food-first" approach—showing students how to build sustainable nutrition plans, develop positive habits, and reach their athletic and fitness goals through hard work and integrity rather than dangerous shortcuts.
